How to Make Back to School Fun for Your Child

Back to school time is a wonderful opportunity to bond with your child while getting your child ready for school and creating back to school routines. Here are some suggestions to make back to school fun for your child!

Create a Fun Memory!

It is important for kids to be able to communicate freely about their experiences at school. This way parents can guide them at a later point if problems arise such as bullying, miscommunication with teachers, the need for more studying, etc.

So it is very important to create opportunities for your child to feel comfortable talking to adults about their school day.

Schedule one day a week when you can spend time with your child in a fun way and talk about school. For example Friday right after school can be a pizza night or ice cream outing in the neighborhood. Make sure that you use this time to really connect with your child.

I remember my own childhood. Every Saturday I went to grandma’s house. She would cook lunch for me. I will tell her about my week at school. Now I am 35 years old. To this day I cherish these moments. Children remember the time you spend with them. Use that wisely!

Read Books!

Boos are wonderful. They are truly a parent’s best friend as you can teach anything with the use of a good book.

Reading quality children’s books about back to school will help your child feel enthusiastic about going back to school. You will also be working on literacy at the same time.

Here are links to a few very good children’s books you can start with.

Celebrate the Little Achievements!

Your child will want to accomplish more at school if their learning is done in a positive and supportive environment. To create that, catch your chi;d’s positive behaviors and effort spent learning. Acknowledge their work.

The idea of acknowledging your child’s effort and building their character with this one parenting idea is very important. So I would like to offer a few extra posts that talk about in in detail:
