As a parent you can use the holidays as an extra motivator for your child to learn. Recently I posted about reading and music Halloween activities for the young ones. For this Halloween post I was thinking….how about choosing a Halloween Costume for your child that can also motivate them to learn more or help shape their character?
I just finished a concert where violin students performed Halloween music. They played a pretty elaborate, yet fun Halloween music piece. One more time, we discovered how much fun the holidays bring to children. They also get very involved when the holidays are integrated into their daily lives or learning.
Can you use the festivities of choosing a costume and dressing up for Halloween to direct your child into certain way of thinking for building their character or a certain theme of learning more about?
Cat in the Hat costume for younger children to encourage them to read especially Dr. Seuss.
Superman Costumes as a way to encourage a discussion how your child can affect and change their own environment. Discussion topics may include standing up to bullying, helping younger children, helping others with HW, etc.
Pet Costumes to get your child involved in learning more about animals and nature or even vollunteering at a shelter or rescue center.
