Hello wonderful Suzuki teachers! Thank you for visiting this blog which aims to provide Suzuki violin teaching ideas and build a community of teachers bound around the same ideas.
For this post let’s look at Suzuki Violin parent education.
This post aims to provide helpful online Suzuki parent education articles.
You can use these as supplemental material in your studio.
Every Suzuki teacher does parent education for new students.
At the same time, I feel Suzuki parent education is one concern always a part of teacher discussions. So here are some parent education articles that may aid the process.
Here are some of my observations through the years:
- I have noticed some parents respond better one on one. But not all! I have had parents who have responded much better when I give them materials to read on their own time and at their own pace. So providing an online supplement to Suzuki parent education is needed.
- When I was a novice teacher, I was intimidated to talk to certain parents. I know I am not the only one. I felt some parents would not take my guidance as well as others. At these times, I would have appreciated having something in writing to show instead.
- There are parents who will work better if they hear the same information from more than one source. If two people say the same thing, it must be true…
- Providing online articles may be of help when recruiting new students. If you get an email inquiry about a new student, simply include a link with an article about the Suzuki method overview along with your email. Again, it is the concept of having to read and absorb the information from more than one source.

How Did These Suzuki Parent Education Posts Come Into Being
I have been teaching Suzuki violin for about 13 years now. I have done Suzuki parent education as a part of two Montessori after school programs I had started in 2006 as well as with my own students. I was fortunate to work very closely with Prof. Susan Kempter first as her student at the University of New Mexico and then as a coordinator of the university Suzuki lab school which she headed.
This blog came as a result of many hours of teaching and wanting to collect all of my ideas in one place.
