You may think, how could you even think of something like that? The times are uncertain as it is!
We are on the precipice of lots of changes. Both positive and negative.
However, nothing changes unless it STARTS from young people. And we are the people who shape young minds. Not the media..the educators.
So helping just one young person can go a long way!
What if you offered a scholarship to just one student in need in your music studio?
Perhaps there is a student in your neighborhood public school music program who may need more help.
Perhaps you can offer a scholarship to one kid in your studio every semester.
Maybe you could reach out to your local community to see what help might be needed.
Why Does This Work Both Ways?
What you may see is that your studio THRIVES even more after you doing this!
You will not loose work. In fact, you may gain even more!
Here is My Recent Experience With This Idea
I now teach at a well established high school program in a very good area. I constantly get emails from private teachers who want to advertise their private lessons. Now with distance learning, I get even more.
I do not respond to all of them. I need to know the teachers I send my students to for private lessons.
One of these teachers emailed me last semester. She is a good colleague of mine. She has been teaching in the area for many years. She was wanting to give back to the community.
She shared that she has been interested in giving a scholarship to local students who want to audition for the youth symphony in town but may not be able to afford private instruction.
The same teacher came to one of our chamber music concerts. I wanted to offer my more advanced students a chance to perform with professional local musicians. She was generous with her time and rehearsals. We all ended up having a great time!
This was so incredibly helpful! Now I have a very promising young violinist who can take advantage of this and I can fully support her development.
However, with my students who are able to afford lessons…they will ALL go to her as well! I am not sending them to anyone else at this point.
Be that teacher!
You will benefit both emotionally and financially!
